Counselling for individuals

Counselling for adults in Cuckfield, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Horsham, Lewes, Brighton, East Grinstead, Hove and Sussex areas.

Individual counselling gives you the time you need to explore your emotions and worries in a safe and private space. You might be searching for support through something that is going on now or something that happened in the past. Deciding to see an experienced and qualified counsellor can help you gain some insight and help you make sense of your experiences and your feelings and gain a better understanding of yourself so you can move forwards.

Counselling can be supportive and help you cope with difficult life events, feelings and emotions, such as:

  • Bereavement
  • Depression
  • Loneliness
  • Anxiety
  • Separation and loss
  • Relationship and family problems
  • Infertility
  • Work and academic stress
  • Pregnancy loss
  • Affairs and infidelity
  • Life transitions
  • Upsetting past experiences

Sometimes you may just want to talk to someone where the worry is unclear, and all you know is that something just isn’t right, or you have been struggling with a feeling, emotion or thoughts that are upsetting or worrying you, but the root of the issue is unknown. This can feel scary and overwhelming at times.

How I work

My approach is positive, I encourage you to address the emotional or relational worries you face and give you the skills necessary to overcome them through action. My aim is to create a feeling of growth and purpose, promote healthy and fulfilling relationships and help you develop a positive relationship with yourself.

Some worries only require short term counselling (approx 6 sessions). However, sometimes worries can feel quite big or complicated and is having a significant impact on your life. If this is the case longer term work may be what you prefer or need. I provide regular opportunities to review the work with you.

I mainly draw on Gestalt (which is a highly positive and integrative humanistic form of therapy), systemics and attachment theories in my work, as well as interests in other modalities such as psychodynamic and existential theories.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, member of the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT), member of The Gestalt Centre and a member of the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA). I am currently working towards Accreditation with the British Infertility Counselling Association.

My private clients who see me in my home therapy clinic live in the East Sussex and West Sussex areas, such as Cuckfied, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Horsham, Lewes and Brighton. I also provide counselling remotely in the UK regardless of your geographical location.

Sessions are 50 minutes at £55 and can be offered in person or remotely or as a blended approach.

I may be able to offer concessions for students or those on reduced income. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this possibility.
