Counselling for individuals

Counselling in-person Cuckfield, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Horsham, Lewes, Brighton, East Grinstead, Hove and Sussex areas. I also provide counselling remotely via Zoom regardless of your geographical location.

What is counselling?

When life gets tough we can feel lost, scared, sad and powerless, it can be hard to know who to turn to, which can heighten our sense of aloneness. You may have tried talking to someone already, but maybe they struggled to fully understand you, or really listen and not judge. Maybe you want to talk in confidence and work things out with someone who is impartial and can offer a different perspective?

I am a trained professional and I provide talking therapy. I create a feeling of safety so you can talk freely about what is troubling you. Counselling is weekly for 50 minutes and can be either short-term or long-term work.

What you talk about in counselling will depend on what you want help with, it could include:

  • your relationships
  • your fears, feelings, emotions or thoughts
  • your childhood and past relationships
  • past and present life events and future worries
  • current situations that you are struggling with

You can also have counselling to support your personal development and self-exploration.

Or perhaps your worry is unclear, and all you know is that something just isn’t right, or you have been struggling with a feeling, emotion or thoughts that are upsetting or worrying you, but the root of the issue is unknown.

How I work?

When you work with me my aim is for you to feel safe and at ease, so you can share your intimate thoughts and problems without judgement. I see us building a good therapeutic relationship as key to determining the success of therapy. I offer a warm and authentic space to support you through the challenges you face in a non-judgement way.

I will help you gain insight into your thoughts and feelings and together we will look at new ways of approaching the difficulties or patterns that are preventing you from living in a more fulfilling way. As your therapist I believe the more you are fully aware of yourself, you are able to make choices about aspects of your life that feels truly right for you.

Together we can look at the themes and the difficulties in your life that maybe influencing the way you relate to yourself or your partner and other important people in your life.

Free 20-minute consultation call

I offer all perspective clients a free 20-minute consultation call – a time for me to get to know your reasons for therapy and for you to ask me practical questions. We then schedule a consultation – where I can get to know more about you and you can experience what it will be like working with me. This is an important step as you need to feel comfortable, understood and feel safe to be yourself.

While I integrate a variety of modalities into my work, I tend to focus on the here-and-now. I mainly draw on Gestalt (which is a highly positive and integrative humanistic form of therapy), Systemic and attachment theories in my work, as well as interests in other modalities such as psychodynamic and existential theories.
